Lunchtime at NPX!

Dear North Phoenix Prep Families,

We hope you’ve been having an amazing summer! As another school year approaches, we wanted to tell you about some changes you may notice when using the Greathearts/Orderlunches ordering/payment platform this year. First, the service we use, Orderlunches, is now called Boonli. While the software has a new name, the platform still provides the same secure and time-saving features, but with some additional benefits:

·        Starting in early fall, the platform will be mobile ready! Once that update goes into effect, you will be able to log in from anywhere – smartphone, tablet or computer – and order school lunches. The platform saves you valuable time and makes finding what you’re looking for even easier.
·        You’ll discover a new way to order with color-coded features, so at-a-glance you can see how many items are in your cart, what orders have been placed and the total number of users with an order each day.
·        Like always, you’ll be able to star favorite items, so the platform will automatically select them every time they are offered.
·        After saving an order, if you’d like to copy that order to other users it’s as easy as a click of a button.
·        Navigation is simple – just click on the menu icon in the upper left-hand corner to open up tabs to your order history, profile, program information and help menu.

As a reminder, to access the platform visit http://greathearts.boonli.com. The first time you visit a tutorial will pop-up to offer a quick and guided walk through. The platform is very user-friendly and intuitive and we think you’ll love how easy it is to manage your orders and payments.  Ordering will be open on August 10th

New users will also need a password: NPP14

If you have any questions, please let us know.

Enjoy the final weeks of summer!

Headmaster Letter

Dear North Phoenix Prep Families,

We are almost ready for the start of school!  As you are no doubt making your own preparations for the coming school year, I thought I'd share how our great-hearted teachers are preparing to teach your young scholars.

New faculty and staff began their training on July 10th at New Faculty Orientation, during which time they learn more about the Great Hearts mission to cultivate the hearts and minds of students through the pursuit of Truth, Goodness, and Beauty.  In addition, they receive intense practical training on Socratic teaching, classroom management, assessment strategies, and loads of other pragmatic elements.  This training lasts several weeks.

Then there's the Great Hearts Summit, an annual convention of sorts, which is held for all faculty and staff at Grand Canyon University tomorrow.  Our keynote speaker will be Dr. Scott Crider from the University of Dallas, and our topic is Classical Rhetoric: the Art of Language.  We will also discuss Martin Luther King's "Letter from Birmingham Jail" -- one of the finest letters in the American rhetorical tradition.  We also have breakout sessions on specialized topics in the afternoon. This is just one of many ways in which Great Hearts faculty pursue Truth, Goodness, and Beauty together.

On Tuesday, all North Phoenix faculty and staff begin our in-service training.  In addition to preparing our classrooms and curricula, our faculty will meet with subject and grade teams, receive CPR certification and emergency response training, discuss strategies for students with disabilities, and learn new systems and procedures for our campus.

Why do we make all of these preparations?  Because we are passionately committed to the mission of cultivating our student's hearts and minds.  Because this work is more than just a job; it's a calling. And because we genuinely love to teach our students.  We can't wait to see you on August 10th!

With Devotion,

Headmaster Weinhold

P.S.  Have you seen our traffic pattern for the new campus?

Our new campus has more parking spaces than any other Great Hearts Academy!
