Choosing Extra-Curriculars and Making Summer Plans

Read Miss Smith's note to high school students about Choosing Extra-Curriculars and Making Summer Plans:

I have been thrilled by the number of students seeking guidance on building their resumes. Particularly for students in the Great Hearts curriculum, summer is a precious opportunity for students to deliberately invest in themselves as unique individuals. The same is also true of extracurricular opportunities during the school year. I am frequently asked, "What are colleges looking for?" The answer, quite simply, is you. I will echo the advice I have heard resounding from college admissions officers: It is not what you do over the summer or after school that matters most; it is how and why you do it.

Headmaster Letter

Dear North Phoenix Prep Families,

If you have not driven by the new campus lately, then I would certainly encourage you to take a quick trip and see the progress that's being made.  On my last visit, I noticed that the workers were painting the exterior of the Prep building--so exciting!  It won't be long before we are living in our forever home, and I know from my conversations with the students that they are incredibly energized and enthusiastic about all of the new amenities for next year.

As exciting as the new campus is, I am even more encouraged by the daily work of soul-crafting that our teachers and students engage in. I am reminded that the German word for education is bildung, which is related to our English word, building.  No matter what our location, our school is, at its core, a learning community of teachers and students who are pursuing Truth, Goodness, and Beauty together. What we are really building is an architecture of soul, and our community has been engaged in that all-important work for some time now.

This week is abbreviated due to an annual conference at Dream City Church.  I trust that this comes as a welcome break, even if it's an unusual one.  I'm looking forward to returning to school on Thursday!

With Devotion,
Headmaster Weinhold

Registering Juniors for SATs and ACTs

Just a quick reminder that unlike the PSAT/NMSQT that was administered on our campus in the fall, juniors register independently for ACTs, SATs, and SAT IIs (subject tests). All registration deadlines (and late deadlines) for SAT and ACT are entered on our college counseling events calendar.
